Daniel Huertas is currently the CEO of WCP. During the economic downturn Daniel saw property values plummet to almost below replacement. In turn, he dove headfirst into the real estate development and ownership side of the industry. Outside of piloting WCP’s operations, Daniel is involved in a multitude of projects ranging from technology startups to charitable organizations. His vision and work ethic serve as major motivating factors around the office. When he’s not at WCP, Daniel is strapped into the seat of a performance vehicle, competing in endurance races across the country.
Director of Operations
Christina Araujo has been an integral part of the WCP team from day one. Today she is the Director of Operations and all-around budget master. Born and raised in nearby Reston, VA, Christina has a passion for traveling beyond the Northern VA boundaries. In fact, she’s been to Europe over 20 times! When she’s not crunching our numbers or jet-setting across the Atlantic, you can find Christina enjoying time with her son, Mason.
Director of Sales
Jared Fausnaught, Director of Sales at Washington Capital Partners is an operator at heart, having been a part of the acquisition, construction, sale and origination of over $250 million in commercial and residential real estate transactions. Prior to joining WCP, Jared acted in senior acquisition and legal roles for a boutique DC-based development company. In his current role, he is responsible for managing and driving sales growth, and overall portfolio strategy. As part of WCP’s executive team, Jared plays additional supporting roles in marketing, operations, fund management, and capital markets. Each day after work you can find Jared playing a game of “who’s walking who?” with his Great Dane, Jewel.
Director of Technology
Josh Painter is WCP’s Director of Technology, currently living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Just a phone call away, Josh plays the role of WCP’s problem-solver and always keeps us informed and updated on anything IT related. Josh develops, customizes, and manages cloud technologies and applications that support WCP’s customers, vendors, and employees. When Josh isn’t supercharging our digital infrastructure, he’s either reading up on rocket science or simply enjoying the company of his wife and 3 beautiful daughters.
Nathaniel Butler is the Marketing Manager here at WCP. Prior to joining the WCP team, the Winchester, VA native has worked in both the construction and sales sides of real estate. Now working in the lending space, you could say that he has experienced all angles of the real estate industry. He is a graduate of JMU where he studied Public Relations. When he’s not overseeing our marketing operations, Nathaniel enjoys fitness training, shooting sports, and the ongoing quest to find the best fried chicken sandwich in the DMV.
Melissa Jones has been processing loans at WCP since 2014, but her career in real estate extends far beyond that. Melissa has successfully navigated REO properties, short sales, traditional real estate, investments, builders, and government housing programs throughout her career. On top of staying active in her daughter’s many activities, Melissa simultaneously serves as a processor and a capital coordinator. While on paper she is a labeled as a Senior Processor, in reality, she has a hand in every aspect of our business. She said it best with, “at the end of each transaction, it’s so rewarding for me to see sellers, buyers, and borrowers happy.”
Paul Flather III, a Senior Processor, was born and raised in Northern Virginia. After graduating from UMW with a degree in Economics, he followed his father’s footsteps and entered the real estate industry. He works hard to help our clients stay organized and close deals quickly. Paul has an outstanding record of closing loans within 24 hours; his personal best being just 5 hours. As a true renaissance man, Paul enjoys reading historical novels just as much as lighting up rookies on the paintball field.
Kevin McGaughey is a Northern Virginia native and graduate of JMU where he studied biology and human science. After coming to work part-time at WCP, he quickly realized that real estate was the right path for him, leading him to his current position as Senior Associate. In his free time, you can find him on the court, playing in one of the many local basketball leagues. Some of his likes include traveling, Indian food, and awful reality television.
Andrew Michael started out at WCP in the spring of 2016. Prior to Washington Capital Partners, he was working full-time in the oil industry as a Wholesale Pricing Manager. Since transitioning to real estate, Andrew has been flipping, wholesaling, and acquiring rentals since 2012. Today, as a Senior Associate for WCP, he uses his experience and extensive knowledge of the business to help clients succeed. His skills extend beyond the real estate industry, as Andrew also doubles as the WCP office DJ. Need a new playlist? Ask Andrew.
Gunnar Sevart began his professional career by joining the United State Marine Corps Reserves right out of high school. After he returned from training he decided to attend a real estate seminar and fell in love with the industry. Through joining WCP as an Associate, Gunnar made it his mission to help other investors secure loans for their projects while simultaneously building his own real estate network. Gunnar’s discipline and dedication make him a major asset to our team and has earned him his rank of Senior Associate.
Conor Reilly is a Connecticut native who graduated from Salisbury University before finding a new home in the DMV. After studying advertising during college he decided to instead focus on the real estate industry, specifically building relationships with clients. This led him to join the WCP sales team as an Associate. He is always willing to be the first to try new foods and loves to cook. Conor stays busy hiking, playing soccer, baseball or taking a weekend road trip somewhere on a whim.
Matt Nguyen is a Northern Virginia native and graduate of GMU where he majored in Business Management. His lifelong passion in real estate has led him to WCP where he assists the Director of Sales. His experience includes working for several title companies, a real estate law firm, and obtaining his realtor license. In his free time, you can find him at a local winery, brunch, snowboarding, or at home spending time with his fiancé and beautiful baby girl.
Construction Draw Manager
Joska Gal is WCP’s Construction Draw Manager. He’s one of our youngest team members, yet he brings a tremendous amount of experience to the table. At age 17, Joska bought his first investment property and sold it for profit in a matter of weeks. When he’s not coordinating construction draws, Joska continues to flip properties around the DMV. He serves another important role at WCP as our resident dining expert- providing tips on the best local spots to eat.
Hailey Thomas has lived in the City of Falls Church her whole life. As a recent finance graduate of East Carolina University, Hailey knew that WCP would be the perfect fit for her. She loves the challenge and excitement of the real estate business while assisting the accounting and processing teams here at WCP. When she’s not working you can find her hanging out with friends, playing tennis, shopping, or taking pictures of her Insta-famous Aussie pup.
As WCP’s accountant, Kunal Kapani keeps our books up to date and the office laughing. Kunal is a GMU grad and a Northern Virginia native. He’s a huge Washington sports fan and loves the local food scene. Kunal was born on the same day that Abraham Lincoln was shot and the Titanic sank, but we like him anyways.
Senior Marketing Strategist
Shelby Grimmett is a Senior Marketing Strategist here at WCP. After graduating from VCU, she was drawn to the real estate industry, leading her to an opportunity at WCP. Her favorite parts of working at WCP are being surrounded by a team of driven individuals and always having lunch buddies! When she’s not managing all things social media, you can find her hanging out on a yoga mat or exploring the local foodie scene.
Stephanie is an Arlington, VA native graduate of George Mason University. As a Marketing Strategist, Stephanie coordinates WCP’s events and keeps our team fully stocked with the coolest merch in town. In her free time, she loves to embrace her Bolivian heritage by participating in folkloric dances with her dance groups and her twin brother Steven. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone with more holiday spirit, as Stephanie has a themed outfit and matching pen for every holiday.
Freddy Escalante is WCP’s in-house Construction Inspector. Originally from Bolivia, Freddy has been working in the real estate business for the last 8 years and is a licensed realtor in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He’s also a licensed contractor and loves spending every day on job sites and helping investors throughout the construction process. In his free time, Freddy enjoys playing soccer with friends and manning the grill at cookouts.
Andrew joined WCP as a Technology Intern to help bolster our cybersecurity protocols and assist with all Technology-related support. Since graduating the University of Tulsa where he pursued a degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Cyber Security, Andrew became a Technology Specialist here at WCP. He stays active in his free time between his local soccer league and Cross Fit. When it’s time to relax, you can find Andrew collecting and playing board games or booking a trip to explore a new city
Jarrett Yap is WCP’s Transaction Coordinator, composing BPO’s for WCP’s potential projects. Those who say chivalry is dead clearly have not met Jarrett, who never fails to open the door for a lady. While he remains focused on his career aspirations, his lighter side comes out as soon as a corny movie comes on. He also takes the title as steak connoisseur at WCP!
Russell Drazin, WCP’s legal counsel, received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School. Born in the District, raised in Rockville, and currently living in Georgetown, Russell marks the 5th generation of Drazins to live and work in the Washington Metropolitan area. In his free time, he gives back to the real estate community by teaching seminars for attorneys and real estate professionals on topics within his specialty.
